I think it may have been worth it after all. It is in this phase that I learnt many new things. Apart from learning that people may totally change in times of hardships, I also learnt, during this same phase, my first 'sheng' (slang language mostly used in Nairobi area of Kenya) word. Life practically shaped me into appreciating what I had and being determined to attain what I needed. Clay being moulded by circumstances...

It was congenital. The doctor futher continued with the horrific narrative and even suggested that I should be taken to  India  for further medical assitance. Either that, or if we had any religious belief, that was the time to seek spiritual and religious help. I could not understand anything the doctor said at that time. But I could definitely read pain and heartbreak from my parents faces. You know, tough times call for tough decisions.

the shade. After a short while, I felt that the shade was too cold so I moved a bit and sat in the sun. I zoned off. I was tapped and told the van had arrived and we should get in. By that time, I was extremely weak to even walk well. We all got in the school van and we were taken to Kwale district hospital....it was my first time to be there....
